1. Mehsana is a dairy breed of buffalo found in Mehsana town in Gujarat and adjoining Maharastra state.
2. Body is mostly black; a few animals are black-brown in colour.
3. The breed is supposed to have been evolved out of crossbreeding between the Surti and the Murrah.
4. The body is longer than in Murrah and the limbs lighter.
5. The head is longer and heavier.
6. The horns usually are less curved at the end compared to Murrah breed but are longer and could be of irregular shape.
7. The milk yield is 1200-1500 kg.
8. The breed is supposed to have good persistency.
9. The intercalving period ranges between 450-550 days.

मेहसाना

1. मेहसाना ही म्हशीची एक दुधाळू जात आहे जी गुजरातमधील मेहसाना शहरात आणि लगतच्या महाराष्ट्र राज्यात आढळते.
2. शरिर बहुतेक काळ्या रंगाचा असते; काही प्राणी काळ्या-तपकिरी रंगाचे असतात.
3. सुरती आणि मु-हा यांच्यातील संकरातुन ही जात विकसित झाली असावी असे मानले जाते.
4. मु-हापेक्ष्या शरिर लांब आणि हातपाय बारीक असते.
5. डोके लांब आणि जड आहे.
6. मु-हा जातीच्या तुलनेत शिंगे टोकाला कमी वक्र असतात परंतु लांब असतात आणि अनियमित आकाराची असू शकतात.
7. दूध उत्पादन १२००-१५०० किलो प्रति वेत आहे.
8. या जातीमध्ये चिकाटी चांगली असावी असे मानले जाते.
9. आंतर विण्याचा कालावधी ४५०-५५० दिवसांच्या दरम्यान असतो.
