1. Toda breed of buffaloes is named after an ancient tribe, Toda of Nilgiris of south India.
2. Coat colour of the calf is generally fawn at birth.
3. In adult the predominate coat colours are fawn and ash-grey.
4. These buffaloes are quite distinct from other breeds and are indigenous to Nilgiri hills.
5. The animals have long body, deep and broad chest, and short and strong legs.
6. The head is heavy with horns set well apart, curving inward outward and forward.
7. Thick hair coat is found all over the body. They are gregarious in nature.

तोडा

1. तोडा जातीचे नाव दक्षिण भारतातील निलगिरीच्या टोडा या प्राचीन जमातीवरून ठेवण्यात आले आहे.
2. वासरांचा जन्माच्या वेळी सामान्यतः फिक्कट रंग असतो.
3. प्रौढांमध्ये प्रामुख्याने रंग फिकट आणि राखाडी असतात.
4. या जातीचा मुळस्थान निलगिरी टेकड्यांवरील असून या म्हशी इतर जातींपेक्षा वेगळ्या आहेत.
5. शरीर लांब, खोल आणि रुंद छाती तसेच पाय लहान व मजबूत असतात.
6. डोके जड असते आणि शिंगे बाहेरच्या दिशेने वाढून पुढे आतील दिशेने वक्र असतात.
7. जाड केसांचा आवरण संपूर्ण शरीरावर आढळतो. ते समूहाने राहतात.
