1. It is otherwise called asJathi madu, Mottai madu, Molai madu, Therkathi madu.
2. Originated in Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagappattinam districts of Tamil Nadu.
3. Suitable for wet ploughing and known for their strength and sturdiness.
4. Umbalachery breed being light in weight is very well suited for working in the alluvial type of soil available in this area.
5. The practice of dehorning of bullocks is peculiar in Umblachery cattle. Unlike in other breeds the bullocks are dehorned.

उंबलाचेरी

1. जठी माडू, मोटाई माडू, मोलाई माडू, थेरकाठी माडू या नावानेही ओळखतात.
2. तामिळनाडूतील तंजावर, तिरुवरूर आणि नागपट्टिनम जिल्ह्यांत उगम.
3. ओल्या नांगरणीसाठी योग्य आणि त्यांच्या ताकद आणि कणखरपणासाठी ओळखले जाते.
4. उंबलाचेरी ही जात वजनाने हलकी असल्याने या भागात असलेल्या गाळाच्या मृदेत काम करण्यासाठी अतिशय योग्य आहे.
